A zine consisting of images of Irish Life Building located on lower Abbey Street, Dublin 1. The photos are accompanied with an ‘essay poem’ loosely ruminating on the work of Michael Rubensteins ‘Public Works: Infrastructure, Irish Modernism and the Postcolonial’. Using public urination as a metaphor for an attempt to excrete inherited shame, hauntological aspects of the post colonial identity and the artists own escapist tendencies through modes of autofiction and speculative theory. The Irish Life Building is an example of modernist architecture in Dublin’s north inner city, a site in which the artists projects these concepts onto. The book is an experiment with a ‘prose’ style approach to essay writing, reflecting on spatial politics, class and agency.

It is early research for a larger body of work.
