Chiara Patton Fea is a Dublin based multi-disciplinary artist whose practice examines colonial legacies in relation to contemporary technologies, spectral infrastructural failures and their consequential impact on class, embodiment and collective memory. She interrogates this through an artistic process spanning across writing, sculpture, moving image and sound, challenging the notion of linear progress.
She utilises site specific research in predominantly urban terrain, which become points through which she considers the entanglement of emerging technologies and the residuals of imperialist logic. Her research is informed by decolonial practices, spatial politics and digital cultures, exploring the intimate parallels between ‘public’ and ‘private’ in our physical bodies, our inherited response to space and manufactured environments, both physical and digital.
There is particular emphasis on the tensions of ‘resolved’ and ‘unresolved’ in both her research and artistic outputs.
